We stopped by to visit the parent of one of our students one evening. She works 2 jobs to support her family. In the evening she goes to a local producer in Pimampiro to peel onions from 6pm to 2 am. She earns $1 for each 50lb bag she peels. Her daughter comes to help her after she finishes school and does her homework. They usually can finish 20 bags on an 8 hour shift. I couldn't stay in the room for more than a minute because my eyes began to burn so badly. What hard working people the Ecuadorians are.
